.I am a first-year PhD-track MSc student in Computer Science at UBC, co-advised by Dr. Geoff Pleiss and Dr. Evan Shelhamer. I’m interested in application-driven deep learning research, particularly in self-supervised vision foundation models, uncertainty quantification, multi-modeling, and most recently remote sensing.
Piragua, piragua, new block of ice, piragua. – “In The Heights”
My undergraduate honours thesis focused on uncertainty quantification in deep learning, where I developed Asymmetric Duos, a computationally efficient method for improving the predictive uncertainties of large neural networks in high-risk applications.
Peviously, I was a research assistant in UBC SPIN Lab (HCI & Robotics), where I gave fluffy robots heartbeats and made them breathe.
Outside of research, I’m an enthusiastic, albeit mediocre, bird watcher. I also perform with UBC Acappella and play trumpet in a jazz band.
Note on UBC Computer Vision Reading Group (CVRG): I organize the weekly CV reading group, which meets every Monday at 2pm. To join the mailing list, email cvrg-l-request@cs.ubc.ca with the word join in the subject or body.
